The 2023 Grammys brought up a couple of questions that have been posed before but have yet to be answered to anyone’s satisfaction. The question is, of course, why do the people choosing the Album of the Year award winners hate Beyoncé? And the second being: Is Ben Affleck okay?

Other than his films, which he has both produced and starred in, Affleck is perhaps best known for that meme of him smoking a cigarette and looking utterly exhausted. This meme has been a favorite of people who are enduing life in these times since late 2016 — and if you can bring yourself to remember what happened during that time, you know why.

In addition to the one meme, there have been a number of photos of Affleck gathering up food on his doorstep while looking rather tired, disheveled, or generally miserable, often with some Dunkin Donuts in hand. At the Grammys this weekend, he once again reinforced his reputation as the icon of misery as shot after shot of him with his wife Jennifer Lopez showed him looking like he’d rather be anywhere else — perhaps at home with a coffee and an apple fritter.

Affleck has opened up about his mental health issues before, both in terms of the alcohol addiction which runs in his family as well as depression and anxiety which has kept him on medication since he was 26. He has never clarified whether he was truly in a bad state of mind during the meme photo or any of the others, or if he simply has resting “I just want to go to bed” face.

Either way, Affleck can be proud that although he might never win a Grammy himself, he has become one of the most refreshingly relatable faces on the entire internet. He really is just like us when we’re dragged to our spouse’s work event. This is our collection of evidence:
