Donald Trump has a big evangelical base, mainly because the evangelical community votes essentially on one issue: abortion. They don’t like it. Trump has claimed throughout his campaign that he is anti-choice, though he didn’t have much fo a record of holding strong beliefs on the subject until he ran for president. While he ran for president and during a number of public appearances since, it’s seemed like he doesn’t entirely understand what abortion is, describing what sounds a whole lot like full-term birth a few times. His words are intended to inflame the conversation around the right to family planning and it works.
It especially works for the people who voted him int office, and for the most part they’ve been going out of their way to praise Trump at every opportunity. The latest bat sh*t defense of Trump has come from a Nebraska pastor named Hank Kunneman of One Voice Ministries.
Kunneman told his congregation during a recent sermon that the U.S. is going to be spared the coronavirus because Trump is president and because he opposes abortion rights.

“Listen to the words that I speak to you at this moment, says the Living God,” he told the congregation. “Why do you fear, United States? For I have spoke to you before, and I speak to you again. I have extended and opened a window of mercy to this nation at this time. Therefore the virus that they speak of, the prognostication, the diagnosis… my mercy is the quarantine that shall be greater than what they have spoken to you, United States.”
He continued, “Because of the administration that stands in this land, who honors me, who honors the covenants of your forefathers and of the Constitution, and because they have aligned themselves with Israel, and because they have sided on the right side of life, life in the womb, life given outside of the womb. Therefore I give life to this nation, and I give mercy… Do not fear this virus, says the Spirit of God.”
Well, none of this is true, just in case you were wondering. According to CNN, 15 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the U.S., and the director of the CDC, Dr. Robert Redfield, is predicting we will be dealing with it over the coming year. Most likely it will become a virus that has to be contended with in the U.S eventually, but they’re in containment mode. If you really don’t want to get sick, forget about abortion and pressure the government to funnel money to health research.
