Despite tensions running high across all parties and political beliefs over the current strife between the United States and Iran, one Republican is lashing out at Democrat leaders for not being gung-ho about President Trump’s desire to escalate the attacks.
Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) went on Fox Business Wednesday night to share a soundbite in which he went so far as to casually accuse Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi “and her Democrats” of being pro-terrorist.
“They’re in love with terrorists, we see that they mourn Soleimani more than they mourn our Gold Star families,” he said, barreling forward without being challenged.

Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was the target of an unexpected drone assassination ordered by President Trump last week, an attack Pelosi called “provocative and disproportionate,” while also reinforcing the shared belief that Soleimani was a “terrible person” who “did bad things.”
Both Democrats in office and average citizens were quick to slam Collins for his baseless and blatant lies.
(2,2) .@RepDougCollins How dare you say someone like me, who rejects you and Trump and disgusting comments like this loves terrorists. I hate them and I hate your behavior which divides our country with such ugliness and divisiveness. You are bad for America.— Fred Guttenberg (@fred_guttenberg) January 9, 2020
.@RepDougCollins "Democrats" are Americans. They are our vets, our soldiers, our law enforcement, our teachers, our preachers, our doctors, our firefighters. How DARE you denigrate Americans w/ this sickening assertion that Democrats are "in love with terrorists." You sick f*ck. https://t.co/uUs2FuNSZw— Jean Mobilia (@jeanmobilia) January 10, 2020
Sen. Tammy Duckworth on Rep. Doug Collins, who accused Dems of being in love with terrorists:— Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) January 9, 2020
"I'm not going to dignify that with a response. I left parts of my body in Iraq fighting terrorists," Duckworth said. "I don't need to justify myself to anyone."https://t.co/DzD4SzQTK5
I happen to be a Democrat and I prosecuted terrorists for living. Sent many to prison for life. I don’t know what Doug Collins has ever done to for America except preen and sound stupid. https://t.co/AREc1pvjdX— Preet Bharara (@PreetBharara) January 9, 2020
And many were quick to point out that, in being a staunch Trump supporter, Collins is pointing a finger in the wrong direction.
Doug Collins: The Democrats are not "in love with terrorists." Perhaps you're thinking of Trump who claims to have "fallen in love" with Kim Jong-un, a dictator responsible for killing an American college student, as well as several family members. 🙄 pic.twitter.com/4b9Wr6CYqQ— Linda Childers (@lindarchilders) January 9, 2020
Trump repeatedly attacked a Gold Star Family during the 2016 election and is "in love" with murderous dictator, Kim Jong Un, @RepDougCollins, you pasty-faced, two-bit huckster. https://t.co/t4vw1n6Ve2— Polly Sigh (@dcpoll) January 9, 2020
Hey @RepDougCollins, you’re “in love” with a guy who— Eric Columbus (@EricColumbus) January 9, 2020
—insulted Capt. Humayun Khan’s parents
—lied about Sgt. LaDavid Johnson’s widow
—attacked your colleague Rep. Dingell and said her husband, a World War II vet, might be in hell
—belittled McCain because he was a POW. https://t.co/ni2U67PvOL
But one of the main takeaways was definitely a call to Georgia to vote this guy out once he’s up for re-election.
Who is running against this craven un-American ignorant asshole named Doug Collins? I will max out to you tomorrow. I hope you all join me. https://t.co/AREc1pvjdX— Preet Bharara (@PreetBharara) January 9, 2020
Here’s what his opponent has to say:
Trump's pursuit of control over the news cycle is exactly why America needs him out of office.— DevinPandyForCongress (@DevinPandy) January 8, 2020
The President was clear: He has no idea what he's doing and has to rely on the inexperience of his D team because his C team either quit or were fired and he never had an A or B team. https://t.co/0GB2GEzRXb
Our gripe is not that a terrorist was killed. Our gripe is that it was done against the rec of advisers, came as a shock to the Pentagon, w/o the knowledge of our allies, w/o notifying Congress, and worst of all, w/o a well thought out, fully vetted, strategic plan.— DevinPandyForCongress (@DevinPandy) January 9, 2020
Remember—supporting strategic planning and attempts to avoid a costly and deadly war =/= being in love with terrorists. Go figure.
