A Fox & Friends panel got heated when a Reverend stated that Jesus was a socialist.

In the four-minute, 47-second clip, the conversation starts out with the host and panelists discussing religion’s impact on voters.

Reverend Dee Hawkins-Haigler of First St. Paul Baptist Church spoke on how spirituality is central to the African-American community and said her interpretation of the scripture mirrors socialist values.

“We believe in things like, what did you do to the least of them?” Dawkins-Haigler said. “You fed the hungry, you clothed the naked, you went to see those who are in prison.”

After Dawkins-Haigler finished speaking, Fox News contributor Jonathan Morris said he couldn’t agree more with her assessment.

“That is what Christians are called to do, to take care of the homeless, to take care of the foreigner,” Morris said. He later called labeling Jesus with modern political terms as “out of line.”

Evangelical pastor and Trump supporter Robert Jeffress, who was also on the panel, disagreed with the comparison.

“You do not have to be a socialist to be a Christian,” Jeffress said. “Socialism is antithetical to Christianity and if they nominate Bernie Sanders, they are not going to be able to attract any faith voters.”

During Jeffress’ speech, Dawkins-Haigler said “I completely disagree.”

“People would have said that Jesus was more of a socialist than anybody we’re talking about today,” she said.

Another panelist asked Dawkins-Haigler why she believes Jesus was a socialist.

“Because Jesus did not sit with the establishment, he overturned tables of the tax collectors, he sat with people who were lepers,” she said. “He made sure he healed people who people thought should not have been healed.”

Host Pete Hegseth said it was a “big claim.”

Jeffress went on to defend his stance that Jesus was not a socialist.

“He said render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasar’s and to God the things that are God’s,” he said. “He was compassionate. Church is to be compassionate, but you don’t have to believe in socialism, which is nothing but communism light and is absolutely is opposed to everything that is Christian.”

At the end of the segment, Hegseth said he wished the debate could go on for another 10 minutes.
