Pregnancy is different for every person, from how their body reacts and changes to how their loved ones act. Even giving birth itself can come in many forms. Redditor u/SavPMA posted a rant on the r/BabyBumps subreddit after her husband thought he had the right to tell her what she could do for her delivery.
“My husband says I’m not allowed to get an epidural?!” she wrote in the title of the post.

“Ya’ll help me out PLEASE I am beyond angry. My husband has mom friends and family who have had issues after epidurals like continuous back pain and stuff,” she said. While this is reasonable, his next statement was completely unreasonable. “He told me he won’t allow me to get an epidural, period. I tried to explain to him it’s my body and I’m the one delivering our baby but he didn’t budge and doesn’t understand. I’m going to be a FTM [first time mom] (he has a daughter already with someone else) and he thinks everyone who gets an epidural will have issues down the road. I told him I’m going to go over ALL the options with my doctor. I want to cry because of how angry I am, what do I say to him? Help 😭”
Redditors and fellow parents offered u/SavPMA some suggestions and tips for how to get her husband on board with an epidural being an option in her delivery plan.

In edits to the post, u/SavPMA provided a little more context and, hopefully, good news about husband dearest having a change of heart about epidurals.
“I appreciate the help but I’m not divorcing him lol he is an absolute sweetheart but it’s just with this situation specifically he is acting annoying,” she said. “He has told he he really wants to go with me to my upcoming OB appointment to discuss the benefits of an epidural and how it will help me out!”
