Arizona state Representative Paul Gosar, DDS, is conducting a totally unbiased and very scientific survey on his government website on the topic of abortion. Specifically, the survey focuses on “heartbeat” bills, which are a misnomer, because a six-week-old embryo does not have a heart or a heartbeat, only a vibration of the developing umbilical cord. Somehow, in spite of the officialness of this poll, Rep. Gosar fails to mention this.

Unfortunately for Gosar, atheist Reddit discovered the online survey, and now a post with 13.7 thousand upvotes and over 2,000 comments is suggesting that people who actually appreciate science make their voices heard on this particular issue.

“Arizona senator releases “unbiased” Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice poll,” reads the headline. “I think we should all flood that poll and show him we respect woman and their right to choose.”

Science fans have every right to be upset. While the page on which the survey is located doesn’t claim it to be unbiased, something on a government website probably should at least try to be. Instead, Gosar’s poll has options like this for the question “Do you believe Roe v Wade should be overturned?”:

“No. A mother should always have the right to kill her unborn baby no matter when life begins.”

No loaded language here. You’ll just be admitting to being a baby murder fan if you select the above option.

The third question even engages in the bizarrely unscientific and entirely imaginary topic of “post-birth abortion,” which is a thing no one ever wanted and that doesn’t exist because once a baby is born, abortion is, by definition, no longer possible.

Anyone can take this poll. We here at god.dailydot.com have confirmed that while you have to provide an email, you can input anything and it will be accepted, including “f—[email protected].”

With this knowledge in hand, the good people of atheist Reddit are having a fun time of it.

If he really hates scientists he should shut down his website, that’s technology enabled by scientists!—jama211

2.

Weirdly, the GOP is pretty okay with these “post birth abortions” when the 16-years-past-being-a-fetus threatens someone’s life. Ask if the police should be allowed to “abort” a teenager threatening people with a gun, and the GOP is pretty unanimous.hansn

Honestly, that poll is discriminatory towards people whose choices don’t appear in the options. What If I want to buy aborted baby parts not to help science, but to cook a delicious meal?Kiroen

“If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town.

They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.” Deuteronomy 21:18-21phil8248

What is this “life-begins” begging the question crap?

Steak was once alive. Mosquitos are alive. The tissue slough from the inside of my cheek is alive.

Fun fact; Trump has the same thing on his campaign page. It doesn’t have any checks if it’s a bot or not.—DangerousCyclone
