Woman Who Was Fired For Flipping Off Trump’s Motorcade Unseats Republican In Local Election

A woman named Juli Briskman went viral in 2017 for flipping off Donald Trump’s motorcade as it passed her cycling down the road. At the time, Briskman was employed by a government contractor called Akima LLC, who did not appreciate the national attention. Briskman’s photo appeared everyone on social media and even made it onto late-night shows. She was fired. Briskman eventually sued Akima LLC, according to the HuffPost, and she also received $142,000 on a GoFundMe page set up by a friend after her termination.

Briskman is a single mom of two, so it’s incredible that she received that support from the world, who considered her a real She-ro! That’s a hero, but a woman. Anyway, Briskman is more than just a viral image. On Tuesday, she unseated eight-year incumbent Republican Suzanne Volpe on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors in Virginia as a Democrat nominee. She’ll be serving the Algonkian District on the board, which covers about 400,000 people.

“Two years ago I was fired for standing up to the backwards agenda of Donald Trump. But now my neighbors in Algonkian District have backed me up and rejected the Trump agenda,” Briskman told HuffPost after her win. “We worked really hard on this campaign. It was a tough race. I’m excited to create a Loudoun County that works for everyone.”

People are celebrating Briskman’s win everywhere, probably because it feels like a symbolic victory of justice:

Congrats to Juli Briskman, who knows how to flip birds and flip seats. Your country needs you now more than ever!
