A Florida mom named Heather Chisum went viral on Facebook after posting some shocking pictures of her one-year-old son, Milo. Milo had come home from the Children’s Education Center of the Islands with some distressing marks on his body—someone had written all over his little belly.
The words appear to say, “I’m out of diapers,” as though the kid wrote them himself.
Chisum’s post asked her friends if she was “right to be furious about this,” or if she was “overreacting.”
“I really need your opinions guys, because I’m about to barge in this daycare tomorrow morning and have some words,” she wrote.
She explained that whenever she picks up her kids, the daycare puts a daily report in Milo’s lunch box. Chisum says that she’s a single mom of two kids with a full-time job, and she doesn’t read the report every day:
I guess yesterday they wrote on his report that he needs diapers, and I failed to see that. Now keep in mind, I see several teachers at drop off and several at pick up, if I failed to see that he needs diapers a simple, “Hey Heather, your son needs diapers maybe you missed the report” would have done the trick. From any of the many teachers there I see daily.
But instead, I change his diaper this afternoon AND SEE THIS WRITTEN ON MY SON WITH MARKER. You can’t even see all of it in the pic.. it says,” Mom I’m out of diapers pls read my report”.
She says she scrubbed Milo with baby wipes several times and the writing still hadn’t come off.
She says she had intended to take Milo to the beach but doesn’t want to now that he’s covered in words. She really doesn’t understand why the daycare dealt with the issue this way:
In the very worst case scenario, I can’t see anything other than “need diapers” needing to be written. Why a big long message needed to be written across my sons stomach is beyond me.
OR WRITE IT ON HIS DIAPER
OR YA KNOW, JUST TELL ME?!?
The best part???? THIS ISNT THE FIRST TIME. They’ve done this several months ago too.
Help. Am I over exaggerating? Give it to me straight people.

In a Facebook update, Chisum addressed the haters commenting on her post to accuse her of putting her own needs before the needs of her child.

She wrote: “I’ve seen several people now saying comments such as ‘she has plenty of money to spend on makeup she could have gotten diapers’ and I’m BLOWN AWAY that somehow all of these people have gotten copies of my bank statements to make statements so bold as I buy makeup over buying my children diapers.”
“All based on my featured pictures showing me wearing makeup (I’m assuming that’s where they are jumping to this conclusion). So let me put this out there, I have NEVER and will never put my needs before my children’s. No one knows my finances, or what I spend my money on, and it’s NONE of any one’s business.”
But by and large, folks agreed that this was an inappropriate way to deal with a lack of diapers— including the daycare. According to NBC 2, the facility said that the daycare provider who wrote on Milo has been placed on permanent leave.
People, use your words. Don’t use a child as a whiteboard.
