TikTok has severely blurred the lines when it comes to people’s professional lives vs their personal lives. And it isn’t just fast food workers posting videos on the job — and getting in trouble for them.
A plastic surgeon in Brazil recently came under fire with the regional medical board after sharing videos goofing around with literal human flesh.
Caren Trisoglio Garcia has since removed the TikToks from her account, which features a slew of upbeat videos, many of which revolve around her work as a plastic surgeon. Reposts of some of the TikToks to Twitter show Garcia dancing around with what are allegedly chunks of skin, fat, and flesh from patients.
Don’t worry — in this version, they’re blurred out.
According to Newsweek, the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery suspended Garcia for six months, and the Regional Medical Board of the State of Sao Paulo yanked her medical license for the same amount of time, pending investigation.
Viewers are torn over the professional reaction to Garcia’s videos.
To some, dancing around with and showing off parts of a patient that were removed in plastic surgery seems like unethical and bizarre behavior for a doctor.
One Twitter user even accused Garcia of not taking “the profession seriously” by posting all over social media, insisting she must be punished.
But to others, Garcia was just finding joy in her practice, and they don’t see why she should be penalized for it.
After all, she has amassed over 600,000 followers on TikTok, proving the theory that there is an audience for every type of content you can imagine — even dancing with chunks of flesh to Taylor Swift songs.
