Pigeon That Can’t Fly Forms Special Bond With Puppy That Can’t Walk

The Mia Foundation, a NY-based non-profit organization and shelter that helps disabled animals and animals with defects, posted photos of a pigeon (Herman) and a chihuahua (Lundy) straight up cuddling. Of course, this led to the inevitable explosion of the Internet.

Lundy has no use of his legs, while Herman cannot fly. Naturally, these two are perfect friends, even if their pairing is a bit unlikely. Just feast your eyes on these adorable little lovebugs:

In fact, the original Mia Foundation post got nearly 50,000 shares after it went up:

I see a new friendship blooming ❤️Herman and Lundy 😊

The pigeon has been living at The Mia Foundation for several years, as he will likely never be able to fly (perhaps due to a virus), while the little pup is just eight-weeks-old and could have had spinal damage. The hope is to get him walking again, though.

According to People, Sue Rogers, the founder of The Mia Foundation said, “Our main goal is take in animals born with birth defects…I set Herman on a dog bed and started caring for Lundy, and I decided to carefully put Lundy in the same dog bed next to him. The way they interacted was so cute.”

According to People, the animals have a great life at the Foundation: “Herman is now a permanent resident at The Mia Foundation, where Rogers regularly brings the bird outside to take in the great outdoors.”

In fact, the Foundation provides a home for ten pets (they’re called “The Forever Ten”), while they rehabilitate and rescue countless others.

I get full attention at dinner-time 😂
