One would hope that money wouldn’t change their loved ones, but you can never know how someone will act when they start making solid money until it actually happens. Redditor u/brazenmaiden posted a rant about her husband on the r/TwoXChromosomes subreddit, though it has since been deleted by mods.

In the title, she wrote, “My husband has turned into someone I don’t know anymore.”

“While scrolling this sub I see all these horror stories and I counted myself lucky I wasn’t in such a position. And yet, here I am,” she said.

“My husband took a new job not quite two years ago. It’s a really great job but very demanding and the pay more than makes up for having very little free time. Many of his coworkers are multi millionaires and frequently talk about their super cars, private schooled kids, and hired help. I started to worry my husband was going to turn into one of these people but he assured me he would never.”

That, it seems, was a blatant lie…or he didn’t know himself well enough. “Welp, today he told me my income is negligible and doesn’t count, what I do for a living (I have cobbled together multiple avenues of income into one decent living) is just hobbies and not real jobs. He called me a bitch and a psychopath and told me he spoke to a divorce lawyer last night. He degraded my plant collection and called me weeding the gardens, planting, and mulching this weekend ‘playing’ (as in it doesn’t contribute to the house). He told me I should’ve ordered groceries and said I shouldn’t make a big deal out of cleaning up after him. Said I don’t appreciate what he does for me.”

“I just checked my spreadsheet and I made over $60k last year. The fact the he now considers making above the median American salary a ‘hobby’ makes me feel sick. And to top it off, he said he is going to make sure I can’t keep our home and he will fight to make sure he doesn’t have to ‘support’ me anymore.”

“Normally I would post this with a throwaway but fuck it. He deserves the people that know me to know who he’s become,” u/brazenmaiden said. “Thanks for listening to me rant.”

Redditors were quick to offer advice to OP, telling her to lawyer up FAST and document everything she could.
