“Vet Agrees: She’s Just A Jerk”—Shelter’s Facebook Post About “World’s Worst Cat” Goes Viral

Mitchell County Animal Rescue, an animal shelter in Noth Carolina, is looking for one kitty’s forever home. Only issue? She’s the “world’s worst cat.” The cat’s name is Perdita, and she’s a huge freaking jerk, according to the shelter.

“We thought she was sick. Turns out she’s just a jerk,” they wrote in a Facebook post about the four-year-old domestic short-hair mix. The cat came to the shelter after her human sadly died around Christmas time.

Take a peek at the shelter’s very interesting Facebook ad for a forever home:

Meet Perdita, not for the faint of heart. LIKES: staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful...

The cat, who likes to “stare into your soul” is said to love jump-scares, lurking in dark corners, and being a darn QUEEN.

According to ABC News, office manager Brittany Taylor said, “She pretends like she wants you to pet her and love on her. As soon as you pick her up, she starts growling. She will swat you…She definitely makes you laugh. One minute she wants you, and one minute she’s over it.”

If you’re a cat person, you’ll know that these qualities are the things you WANT in a cat! In fact, she sort of sounds like a dream. She wants to be loved—but she also wants her personal space. And, after the death of her human, she probably needs a little extra attention and time getting used to people and surroundings. SIGN US UP.

Interested in loving jerky little Perdita forever? Here’s her PetFinder info. And you can apply here.

People are responding to the ad with lots of love (except for the people who can’t take a joke, that is):

Most people simply want to take Perdita in as their own. Because how is she not the best — growls and all?

Cat owners know how weird, complex, and bratty cats can be—and we love them anyway!

Others brought up the fact that cats aren’t jerks—they just need some time to get settled and find a connection with their new human. Others were downright offended by the ad’s language.

Obviously a few people had some very understandable reservations about Ms. Perdita:

But mostly, people just wanted to send Perdita some love. Even if she does such the cheerfulness out of human souls. What would even be the point of having a cat if they didn’t inflict some torture on you?

In the end, we hope she finds her forever home with someone patient, understanding, and willing to let her take the time and space she needs. Because she’s purrfect.
