Rapper T.I. Proudly Declares He Has His Daughter’s Hymen Checked Every Year For Virginity

The internet is resoundingly grossed out today after rapper and actor T.I., real name Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., announced to the entire world that he takes his teenage daughter to the gynecologist every year for a “hymen check” in order to determine whether she is still a virgin. Whether or not you are still unfortunately unaware that the entire idea of the hymen breaking during the first instance of sexual intercourse is a myth, this is still all-around incredibly messed up.

“This is the thing. Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself,” T.I. said on the “Ladies Like Us” podcast. “And yes, not only have we had the [sex] conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen.”

First of all, no father should be this focused on his own daughter’s vagina. Secondly, this is controlling behavior based on the sexist idea that women and girls are somehow broken or made dirty the moment they have sex. Thirdly, who is the gynecologist going along with this disgusting charade?

According to medical experts, the idea that examining the hymen to determine whether someone is still a virgin is unreliable at best due to the fact that every hymen is different. Some girls are born without any semblance of a hymen at all. Furthermore, the hymen isn’t “broken” during the first time someone with one has sex. It may be slightly torn, but this is very often due to a lack of lubrication as a result of inexperience and nervousness. It then mends itself just like any other part of the body. It can also be torn by other activities, including menstruation, bathing, or exercise.

But the rapper can’t even claim ignorance on this issue. During the interview, T.I. went into some detail about these yearly visits, claiming that he gets consent from Deyjah and then brushes off the doctor’s warnings about how the entire hymen thing is bull.

“And so then [the doctor] come and say, ‘Well I just want you to know that there are other ways besides sex that the hymen can be broken like bike-riding, athletics, horseback riding and just other forms of athletic physical activity,'” he said. “So I say, ‘Look doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bike, she don’t play no sports. Man, just check the hymen please and give me back my results expeditiously.'”

Community screaming

T.I. then proudly declared that he took his now-adult daughter in again after her 18th birthday, and: “Her hymen is still intact.” Absolutely no one needed to know that, Clifford.

While there probably is someone out there defending T.I. on this, we haven’t seen it yet.

It’s too late to call child protective services, right?
