Siera Bearchell is a popular TikTok and Instagram influencer and a mom to boot. She has almost 200,000 followers on TikTok, and they come to her for all sorts of entertainment. But her most recent viral TikTok is about gender, or what she’s noticed about gender from having a baby girl.

Bearchell dresses her daughter, Lily, up in pretty pink outfits and dresses, but sometimes she puts her in neutral colors or even outfits some might perceive as more “masculine,” like the Lion King PJs her girl is wearing in the TikTok. Bearchell noticed that this will make people think Lily is a boy, and they relate to her completely differently.

“Naturally people always think she’s a boy when she’s wearing something like that.”

“This has been happening since she was a baby.”

It would be cool if we didn’t put gendered expectations on anyone ever, but that might be too much to dream for at the moment.
