Trump Cancelled Mexico Tariffs And Got Dragged To Hell For Creating A Problem And Then ‘Solving It’

Well, it turns out that President Donald Trump won’t be imposing tariffs on Mexico after all. Trump said on Friday that the 5 percent tax on all imports he threatened to start on Monday was being “indefinitely suspended” after Mexico and the U.S. reached an immigration enforcement deal.

Trump tweeted, “I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended. Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!”

In response, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sarcastically tweeted, “This is an historic night! @realDonaldTrump has announced that he has cut a deal to ‘greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States.’ Now that the problem is solved, I’m sure we won’t be hearing any more about it in the future.”

Schumer wasn’t the only person who dunked on Trump over his reversal. Billy Baldwin, brother of Alec Baldwin (who plays Trump on SNL) asked if this means we don’t need Trump’s border wall anymore.

And many others came to the same conclusion.

Lots of people on Twitter had jokes and opinions.

People pointed out that it sure seemed like Trump had created a problem just to jump in and announce it solved, making himself look like a hero in the process.

Trump’s not letting the criticism get to him, though (surprise!).
