Donald Trump is hated in a lot of cities, but he might be hated the most in Chicago, a city that he has been characterizing as a burnt-out wasteland since the beginning of his campaign. He is deeply loathed by Chicagoans who are sick of him spreading lies about the city while building his big, stupid Trump Towers right in the center of it. And for the first time in his presidency, he visited. Mayor Lori Lightfoot said it best:
It's no surprise that @realDonaldTrump brought his insulting, ignorant buffoonery to Chicago. Luckily, in this city, we know the truth and we will not let anyone — no matter how high the office — denigrate who we are as a people or our status as a welcoming city.— Mayor Lori Lightfoot (@chicagosmayor) October 28, 2019
Trump attended a fundraiser at one of his own hotels, and spoke to International Association of Chiefs of Police at McCormick Place, according to the Chicago Tribune. The fundraiser was behind closed doors, but while he was with the officers, the president told them to help him hit back against “far-left activists” protesting against his punitive and dangerous immigration policies.
“We face an onslaught from far-left activists who want to erase America’s borders and nullify our federal laws,” Trump said. “We can’t let that happen.”
Trump certainly was dogged by activists throughout his visit, who were protesting everything from his immigration policies to his ties with Russia to his many crimes being documented for potential impeachment.
Also, his habit of putting ketchup on a hot dog, a huge sin in Chicago.
Protestors lined the Chicago River and gathered around Trump Tower. Below are some of the best protest signs greeting Trump as he scuttled away:

My favorite signs from today’s loud and large protest against Donald Trump while he visited his namesake Chicago hotel and condominium to raise millions of dollars for his re-election campaign (or whatever he may divert it to): pic.twitter.com/Ga9Mz7884W— Stephen Schwartz (@AtomicAnalyst) October 28, 2019
President Trump visited Chicago for the 1st time in office and called the city an embarrassment to the nation. Chicago's top cop skipped the event and people turned out to protest. #ChicagoTrumpProtest pic.twitter.com/Sehm4H7fpn— AJ+ (@ajplus) October 28, 2019
