Trump Mocked A Protestor For Being Overweight—But They Were Actually a Supporter

Donald Trump has a long history of encouraging violence and abuse at his rallies. In a grand sense against immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQ people, etc., but also in targeted ways at people protesting him in the crowd.

He also loves to take shots at people because of their bodies, including mocking the disabled and the overweight. The latter seems like it is largely projection. Usually, the people who show up to support him absolutely love this mob mentality bullying. But at a recent rally, things took a turn for Trump when he accidentally mocked one of his own people.

The Washington Post reports that Trump targeted a man at his New Hampshire rally on Thursday. A few protestors showed up on a balcony with a sign that read “Jews Against the Occupation.” They displayed their banner and shouted in the president’s direction. A heavy-set man nearby leapt up to wrest it from them and when Trump turned their way, that’s who he lashed out at.

“That guy’s got a serious weight problem,” Trump said. “Go home. Start exercising. Get him out of here. Got a bigger problem than I do! Got a bigger problem than all of us. Now he goes home and his mom says, ‘What the hell have you just done?'”

The man was wearing a Trump 2020 shirt.

That’s the thing about supporting Trump: you never know when he might turn on you. This man believes in nothing except himself and anyone who even seems to be crossing him will get the mob unleashed on their ass.

The devoted follower was later identified as a guy named Frank Dawson, and Trump apparently called him to talk. I doubt very much that Trump apologized, because that doesn’t seem to be something he is capable of.

But he apparently smoothed things over. It doesn’t take much to placate a Trump supporter—just tell them they’re important and throw in something racist about building a wall.
