Suffice it to say, the mere existence of men like Donald Trump and Mike Pence is enough to give you nightmares. The fact that they’re running the United States has kept me up at night since 2016, so I didn’t think things could get any worse. Then I saw the prez and VP in this RuPaul’s Drag Race Deepfake and I suddenly realized how wrong I was.
Admittedly, pretty much every Deepfake is ridiculously creepy. However, Trump and Pence make the practice of imposing one person’s face on another’s downright horrifying. This time, we have Jimmy Kimmel to thank for the early Halloween present.
Discussing the Deepfake trend on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host joked about how dangerous the technology could be to the upcoming election. “They take clips and they manipulate them to make them look as if someone did or said something they did not do,” he explains.
Frankly, there’s no more nefarious deed than ruining a clip of the wonderful Ru Paul and Drag Race contestant Brooke Lynn Hytes with the faces of Ye Olde Orange Cheeto and Pence performing in front of a captive audience of rally attendees. It’s genius, yes, but it’s still offensive… to Mama Ru.

I think Drag Race jumped the shark with this contestant. pic.twitter.com/lv0ZWN3UPH— No Visigoths (@AlaricCDX) September 5, 2019
I suppose the best thing to come from this video is the fact that no doubt Trump will find out about its existence and then we’ll have a lengthy Twitter rant to look forward to. After all, there’s nothing he hates more than being made fun of—except maybe immigrants, the LGBTQ community, people of color, equality, food other than what’s sold at McDonald’s, Hillary Clinton, CNN, the New York Times and “fake news” media in general, Barack Obama, doing his actual job instead of playing golf… I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.
