New Details Of Call Between Trump And Sondland Confirm Extortion Attempt

The impeachment hearings into Donald Trump’s alleged crimes as President of the United States have begun, and they’re already quite a show. Well, not really, they’re a series of dry readings from mostly old white men, but the devil is in the details. For instance, during his testimony, diplomat William Taylor essentially confirmed that Donald Trump did attempt to extort the Ukrainian government in an effort to dig up dirt on Joe Biden. That was quick!

In his opening remarks, Taylor said that one of his staffers heard Trump on the phone with E.U. Ambassador Gordon Sondland, who he asked about “the investigations,” NBC News reports.

“In the presence of my staff at a restaurant, Ambassador Sondland called President Trump and told him of his meetings in Kyiv,” Taylor testified. “The member of my staff could hear President Trump on the phone, asking Ambassador Sondland about ‘the investigations.'”

Committee Chairman Adam Schiff asked if “investigations” referred to Joe and Hunter Biden’s involvement with Ukraine.

“That is correct,” Taylor said. He continued: “Mr. Sondland told Mr. Trump the Ukrainians were ready to move forward.”

Taylor says his staff asked Sondland what “President Trump thought about Ukraine” after the call ended and Sondland answered, “President Trump cares more about the investigations of Biden.”

Imagine tanking your presidency because you care about Joe Biden!

Taylor did not confirm which aide overheard this conversation, but it is rumored to be David Holmes, who is set to testify on Friday. Schiff did press Taylor, asking if there was anything else Trump exhibited an interest in. Taylor said he was also interested in Burisma, which is the Ukrainian natural gas company that Hunter Biden worked with, and which Trump was allegedly looking for corruption info on, via the Ukrainian government.

Sure sounds like a confirmation that Trump is guilty of the crime he’s been accused of, on the very first day of hearings. I guess we shall see what the next few days hold. Maybe the pee tape?
